Image OCR to Text

OCR runs in this browser with locally hosted code and language data. Images, filenames, and recognized text are not uploaded or stored.

JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Maximum 25 MB.

OCR is an estimate. Review names, numbers, punctuation, columns, and small print against the source before using the result.

    Review

Treat OCR as a first draft.

    • Compare names and numbers with the source
    • Check punctuation and paragraph breaks
    • Expect errors in tables and multi-column layouts
    • Keep the source image for verification

The confidence value is an estimate, not proof that every character is correct.

    Use it well

Good source images produce more useful text.

Use a straight, sharp image with readable contrast. Select the language that actually appears in the document and verify the output before relying on it.

    Common questions

    Is the image uploaded?

No. The image and recognized text remain in this browser. The page only loads the OCR engine and selected language data from the TomSEOTools domain.

    Why does OCR make mistakes?

Blur, skew, compression, handwriting, decorative fonts, small text, tables, and complex layouts reduce recognition quality. Always compare important details with the source.

    Does it recognize handwriting?

It may recognize very clear handwriting, but the bundled models are designed primarily for printed English and Polish text.
