Compress PDF
with honest tradeoffs.
Try structural optimization first. For image-heavy scans, choose an explicit DPI and JPEG quality, then compare the real output size.

Mode guide
Choose the tradeoff.
- Structural mode preserves page content and vectors
- Structural mode may not reduce an optimized file
- Scan modes rasterize every page at a stated quality
- Raster output loses selectable text, links, forms, layers, and signatures
- The tool reports when the output unexpectedly grows
Keep the original and review the complete output before replacing any document.
Use it well
Compression is a quality decision, not a magic percentage.
Vector-heavy files may already be compact. Raster mode can shrink scans but permanently changes every page into an image.

Common questions
Will every PDF become smaller?
No. The result explicitly reports unchanged or larger output and never labels it as a successful reduction.
Does scan mode preserve searchable text?
No. Scan modes rasterize each page, so text selection, links, forms, layers, and signatures are lost.
Are files uploaded?
No. The PDF and generated output remain in the browser. Tool libraries are served locally from TomSEOTools.
